Table linking allows the booking engine to automatically combine adjacent tables to accommodate larger parties.
This setup creates a flexible seating model where the system optimizes table usage in real time.
Before you begin, ensure your floor plan is correctly configured:
Tables are created and positioned
Each table has the correct number of seats
Min and max party sizes are set
Go to:
https://backoffice.10seat.com/tables
Go to:
https://backoffice.10seat.com/capacity-planning
Select the section (dining area) you want to configure.
Click Link Tables.
The floor plan switches to linking mode
Tables become clickable
Click two adjacent tables to create a link.
A line appears between linked tables
Click again to remove a link
Best practices:
Only link tables that can physically be combined
Link tables in sequence (e.g. left to right)
For rows: T1–T2, T2–T3, T3–T4
Once all links are created:
Click Create Group
The system converts links into a structured group
You’ll see a preview of:
Individual tables
All valid combinations
If combined tables allow additional seating:
Set Extra End Seats
Example:
Two 2-tops = 4 seats
If 5 is possible → set +1
Click individual tables to adjust:
Min party size
Additional seats
These settings influence:
Which tables are used for bookings
How combinations are formed
Click Save.
The system will immediately apply:
Table combinations
Availability logic
The system automatically combines tables when needed
It selects the most efficient combination
Larger combinations are preserved for larger parties
Widget availability updates dynamically
You now have a flexible seating setup where the system dynamically optimizes table usage.
